Decent customer service and the crew seems to work hard & quickly. I personally enjoy their creative flavors, and I'm gonna go apesh!t when they stop making the Blue Moon ice cream, its perfection. - Also, they stopped making Blue Moon Ice Cream before I published this :(

Lots of flavors and lot of different cones too. I remember this place being my favorite ice cream shop in Fort Collins. I got the pina colada in a cup. It was good, I tasted coconut and pineapple. But it did have a slight freezer taste to it. The staff was friendly and the line goes fast. I like how the charge by the ounce. Plenty of tables inside if you don't want to venture around Old Town.

Local ice cream in Old Town Fort Collins.... How can one go wrong? When I lived in Ft Collins I'd visit Walrus frequently with my friends and family. Specifically my dad and I would frequent it on our occasional ice cream endeavors together. So it only seemed natural to head back here again with my parents when I was in town visiting. It is exactly what I remember. The décor is silly and cute. The unique flavors are fun to sample. The service was friendly. The sprinkles on the ice cream still make it over the top for me. And the chocolate flavors still always win for me. Reasonable prices, and a fun place to grab your ice cream and then walk around Old Town while you enjoy. Parking still sucks, but it is Old Town... Not a big surprise there. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Ft Collins.

This is one of my favorite ice cream shops in Fort Collins! My favorite ice cream flavor is the ones that taste like beer, like the New Belgium or Blue Moon flavors. Those don't come out as often, so it's always a nice surprise when they do have it! I also really like the cappuccino flavor. Regular scoops are sold by the ounce. For me, a single size is really big. I much prefer the kid size. If you really like their ice cream, you can always order a pint or gallon of your favorite flavor to take home. I'm not sure how much it costs, but I'm assuming it'll be worth it! Walrus is great in the sense of helping out the community. I love how they work with organizations, such as clubs from Colorado State University, with fundraisers.

Walrus to me is where one gets local, fresh ice cream in Fort Collins. The flavors are always changing and there's plenty to choose from. They always have their staples like Swiss Chocolate, Butter Pecan, and others. The lines are often lone but they move fast and service is good. You actually pay by the ounce here so basically you pay for what you eat. I prefer the chocolate dipped waffle cones as they actually dip the cone from the inside out. This means with every bite you get cone, chocolate, and ice cream. The flavors are all great and they even have a mystery or joke flavor. Just ask for a sample. You may or may not be glad you asked :) The shop is located off of Mountain Ave in Old Town and is a great place to hang out and or take your ice cream on the go as you enjoy Old Town. This is a family friendly place and it's a place I always take family and friends to from out of town. Give them try, you will not be disappointed. My only recommendation would be to have Swiss Orange Chocolate permanently on the menu.

This is my daughter's favorite place in Fort Collins besides maybe Clothes Pony. I love supporting local business, and I love that the ice cream is made in house. Service isn't always the best, but it's mostly kids who work there so it's just being patient. I'll keep going here forever.

  • Kristi F.

I must be in the minority here, but I don't understand the appeal of this place. It is neat that the ice cream is made in-house, but that's where it ends for me. First off, I'm not a repeat customer, so the whole randomly placed, scribbled whiteboard menu thing doesn't work well. Secondly, this place is dirty. If you take a good look around while you are waiting in line, it looks like it hasn't seen a good deep cleaning for awhile. A LONG while. Thirdly, customer service was just OK, not amazing, but not awful. And Lastly, my poor 5 year old pulled a long blonde hair out of her ice cream. 'Nuff said. Won't be back!

While stumbling around Fort Collins after a full day of beer tasting we were trying to choose a casual place for dinner...and then this ice cream parlour caught my eye with its line out the door! (Yes, I will eat ice cream for dinner...what's it to you?!) So we waited through the line, all while oogling the glass cases of ice cream, frozen desserts, and other treats. The flavors are middle of the road In my opinion. They were middle of the road enough that I opted for one of their ice cream pie peices instead of a cone. It was very rich, but good. Overall, I felt Walrus was a solid joint, but nothing that knocked my socks off. Cute atmosphere, but quite busy and loud.

Every college town necessitates at least one local ice cream shop, to which families and conferences flock when they are in town. Whether after dinner or perhaps en route to or after a sporting event. And that is the niche that Walrus Ice Cream has tapped into... for quite some time, I might add. They've been set up on Mountain for a while, and they are continually packing the line out the door in the summer seasons. Don't know if they are quite as busy in the winter season; I don't have any reason to be up there at that time of year. Flavors including Guinness, whiskey, and birthday cake are unique winners that set this shop apart, but the mainstays are definitely what keeps people coming back... most "vanilla" American families would still frequent Walrus if only for chocolate and vanilla. I'm just adding another review to this spot, which many people will come to simply because it has the most reviews and is the first to pop up when you enter any combination of the words "ice", "cream", "Fort", "Collins."

Great Ice Cream, service occasionally lacking. We really love visiting this Old Town staple and enjoy both their scooped ice cream and shakes and Sundaes. I really wanted to rate them 5 stars based on the quality of the ice cream but I really struggle with the variability of the service. I understand having to wait when they are busy but there are times that I have visited when they are slow that the staff seem more interested in chatting with each other than serving customers (others have commented on this). Don't let occasional customer service flaws deter you from getting some delicious ice cream treats here.

  • Larissa A.

YUM! Visited a friend in Ft. Collins and LOVED our experience here! Delicious, delicious ice cream and very reasonable prices.

    (5)
  • Brian S.

I must have had a foggy memory about this place. I just visited Walrus now as an adult and a lot of the allure is gone. The ice cream is not as creamy or rich as I remember, it's not even on par with Coldstone. The prices aren't great, I had a single scoop of the Coffee Toffee in a cup and it was $4. That's what a gallon of ice cream costs at the grocery store. Parking is always a nightmare, this location competes with three popular bars as well as a couple restaurants all on the same block and some limited street parking is all you get to work with. Service was more or less friendly but super slow when I came late on a Tuesday night.

    (3)
  • Caspian B.

One of my good friends, Manny, is the ice cream maker here. I gotta say, this place is the bomb. It feels like an ice cream parlour. Try the Guinness flavor before it's gone

    (5)
  • Jenny S.

So many great options for flavors! Be prepared to wait in line though. The service tends to move quickly so it shouldn't be too bad. My milkshake was made to be really milky the first time and they were gracious enough to make me a new one which was much better :)

    (5)
  • Brianna K.

The atmosphere here is carnival-esque with the younger crowd chattering and laughing all around. Sometimes this laughter being prompted by the "joke flavor" which is typically a mix of unappetizing flavors. When I visited, I had classic chocolate ice cream which was utterly delicious. Everyone working behind the counter was cheerful and welcoming, making my overall experience marvelous!

  • Danny V.

The moment you walk into this bright, fun, colorful shop, you feel as though you are in some place very special and historic. We were immediately greated with a warm, heartfelt hello and offered samples of whatever we wanted. The homemade ice cream was amazing, and the "joke of the day" flavor was fun and creative. It is evident that alot of love, creativity, and pride go into this staple of old town ft. Collins. This is a must stop when in the area. WE WILL BE BACK!!

    (5)
  • S B.

Walrus is a cute local place but it is not what it use to be. The service is slow even for just a scoop of ice cream, and the place is dirty, and it is high for ice cream.

    (2)
  • Dayna A.

Lots of flavors! Definitely hard to choose. Like Sweet Cow in Louisville and Boulder a little bit more (my brother disagreed with me and like Walrus better), but was great ice cream nonetheless!

    (4)
  • Wendell F.

My girlfriend walked in, then a large group of people walked in afterward. The staff served everyone after her, ignored her and did not try to help her.

    (1)
  • Kevin L.

Really love this place. A huge variety of different flavors in which you can't really go wrong with any choices (unless personal dislikes of some things). Great area in Old Town, quite a bit of space to sit down if it isn't packed already. Inexpensive as well.

    (5)
  • Shannon K.

The owner is an ass and I seem to always be visiting when he is yelling at his employees. The employees are WONDERFUL- so friendly. Ice cream is AMAAAAAZING. Hot fudge is best I've ever had.

  • Azsure D.

It's the local ice cream shoppe in the cool part of Fort Collins. Very family friendly. Easily accessible and a good idea for post brewery tours. All homemade ice cream hand dipped cones. Nice selection of flavors and toppings. I sampled mandarin orange in a sugar cone lined with chocolate. It was good. The owner is pleasant.

  • Susan Y.

The Walrus is a Fort Collins institution, and for good reason ... they serve the best ice cream in town. If you come during the summer, expect to stand in a line that will spill out onto the street ... not a problem, it will give you time to peruse the list of flavors and contemplate which ones you would like to taste (yes, ask for tastes -- there's often a joke flavor if you're brave). They somehow always have at least a couple of flavors to suit my craving for that day, whether fruity, chocolatey, nutty, boozy, etc. Always worth a stop when you're in Old Town.

    (5)
  • Lisa M.

This place is locally-owned homemade ice cream with great customer service and a quirky atmosphere. My family loves everything about it, from the cotton candy ice cream to the Cutthroat Porter flavor, if it's possible the staff in this place will go out of their way to make your visit one you will remember! I highly recommend you check it out for yourself.

  • April G.

The service is ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE, but the ice cream is delicious. It took over 20 minutes to get two ice cream cones. When we entered just before 5pm on a Sunday, 3 people were behind the counter. After I used the bathroom, all had disappeared and there was one very unhurried guy and a lady changing tills nonchalantly with 5 people in line. The man before me ordered a milkshake, which requires a minute or so of churning to be prepared. The man behind the counter busied himself with putting stuff away behind the counter while the milkshake machine stirred and did not acknowledge my presence until the milkshake was delivered and paid for. The line had by then grown to 10 people. I had blueberry raspberry with walnuts and sprinkles while my mom had Swiss dark chocolate. Both were super yummy and served in waffle cones (which, oddly, were not presented as a cone option until I asked for mixed-in toppings).

    (3)
  • Karla R.

We always leave this place happy. My son loves a scoop of vanilla on a sugar cone dipped in white chocolate and sprinkles. I usually get a cone dipped in chocolate with salted caramel, Swiss chocolate, or lemon ice cream. Note that the kid-size scoop is ample for most adults. It's local and delicious. What's not to like?

    (5)
  • Arlene D.

Ice cream wasn't bad, but they charge 62 cents an ounce , which adds up quickly if you get a topping. Kid got a single cup and it was $5.00. I got a mini and it was still $2.50. The worst part was that it was filthy. Would have walked out except for the kid. There is duct tape around the tops of the ice cream cases, cannot be sanitary. Toppings look like they dumped frozen strawberries etc into a container and let it turn into mush. No one uses gloves, dirty money at registers and handling food. Place needs to close for a week, clean up it's act and get real about there 'per ounce' prices. Not going back for sure, too many better options in town at better prices. Gross. Also, owner's long hair was not pulled back so it was flying everywhere. Needs a visit from restaurant inspectors ,

Fun, Lots of flavors, always a Cool joke flavor and nice art, Nice art, and just happy friendly staff to make this Just fun, Fun and Ice Cream, What more do you want on a warm afternoon?

Even in winter, there are always ice cream fans at Walrus. In the summer, a line outside the front door isn't uncommon. The college-aged staff is never in a hurry, so don't expect that line to move quickly. They usually have a pretty extensive selection, which is good. They also charge by weight, so you literally get what you pay for. For me, the biggest con is that the place just isn't that clean. If you wait in line for your treat, you'll probably watch them just use water over a packed sink to spray utensils before using them again (their utensils, not customer spoons - those are plastic). The counters are usually really cluttered - the whole place just seems kind of dirty. Still, the ice cream is good. I'm just kind of "blah" over the place itself.

    (3)
  • Ashley H.

Good ice cream. Wide variety of flavors to choose from. Banana sundaes! Ya don't see those anymore.

    (4)
  • Samantha L.

So cute! This is your typical classic non-chain ice cream store with friendly staff and awesome vanilla ice cream.

    (5)
  • Mei L.

Offers a variety of flavors They weigh out the servings to make sure you get the right amount. You may sample the flavors they have. The joke flavor...is real! Although I'd caution...try at your own risk. If you came and had a flavor but don't see it on the board...feel free to ask for it. They may have it in the back. I've always been able to find seating when I visit.

    (4)
  • Brian K.

Home-made ice creams, tons of toppings (which they will mix in for you), and a fun + casual environment. There are a lot of ice cream and candy stores in the areas - so I am not sure how they stack up - but they are good.

    (4)
  • Nicole B.

I love their waffle cones, either plain or dipped in chocolate. Can't go wrong with vanilla and butter finger or oreo's! YUMM

  • Foco L.

Walrus is a great, locally owned restaurant, but the service has REALLY gone down hill over the past 15 years. The place is dirty and staff is dirty and full of piercings. But the ice cream is good!

  • Bruce W.

O.K. - the ice cream is good - I had it once during the summer. Apparently, though, the ice cream business is so good during the winter, you don't have to worry about customers. Two of us walked in and wanted some after-dinner ice cream. No one was at the counter, and two women who "apparently worked there" stood behind the counter and talked in whispers about something, and then talked about one moving in with another. The manager came out and started lecturing one of the young women about something she did not do earlier in the day (imagine our surprise...) and then returned back to the back room, watching out a window. "Employee #1" was apparently dishing up some ice cream for a customer at a table, and "Employee #2" stood around. Manager - peers out a window. We had been standing at the counter for close to 5 minutes. Not one "be with you in a second" or "hello" or any kind of acknowledgement that we had even entered the building. We gave up, and walked out. Still not even a hint of recognition that we were there. Seriously, is ice cream that hot-selling in January that you don't need customers? I know it's tough to find good help in FC, but we won't be back...

  • Carl G.

Good local ice cream place. Don't try the joke flavor!

    (4)
  • Anya E.

I love ice cream! Naturally, one of the first places I sought out when I moved out here was a local ice cream place. Walrus has a large flavor menu and lots of concoctions made to order. The staff is always friendly and seems happy to be there. Convenient location in Old Town.

    (4)
  • Chris J.

Best icecream in town. It definitely has an "old time" icecream shop feel. The workers are always very friendly. You know the icecream is good when there's a line out the door in the middle of our cold Colorado winters!

    (5)
  • Geneviève E.

    Yup. Butter Pecan.

    (4)
  • Lisa O.

We walked in and walked out. Its old and dirty and the ice cream looked old and like it hadn't been touched in weeks. We drove to Cold Stone Creamery which was sparkling clean, full of customers and the ice cream was obviously fresh.

  • Kristin M.

Hot, sweltering day Refreshing ice cream rescues Perfect summer treat Locally owned shop Natural ingredients Creative flavors Walrus Ice Cream Shop A Fort Collins favorite Added second store Doesn't feel the same A bright, sterile, empty place It lacks character Their awesome ice cream Always keeps me coming back I just won't eat in Old Town store is best It feels like Fort Collins most Quirky, relaxing But, no matter where Walrus is king of ice cream Best of Fort Collins

    (5)
  • Marc A.

Friendly college service with plenty of room inside and out to enjoy your homemade ice cream. Bonus star for letting me have a flavor not on display but hidden in the back cooler. Minus one star for asking us to leave before the posted closing sign so someone could wax the floors and not wait 10 minutes.

  • Ryan B.

I will start with the good at this Fort Collins ice cream shop. The ice cream was fantastic. I had the Cappuccino Chip and it was heavenly. My girlfriend and I also tried the classic root beer float which was well done, and we were offered a free refill! The selection and variety was also well past the norm. I saw everything from Car Bomb ice cream (Jameson and Guinness flavored) to Blue Moon (which I was told tastes like the milk in a bowl of Fruity Pebbles). The bad part, which costs this place a couple stars in my book - the service was horrendous. It may have been the worst managed ice cream shop I have ever been to. I saw a girl taking out trash and then immediately handling the food. There were 5 or 6 people 'working' but only one taking orders and serving. The other employees were gossiping, chatting, and (for some reason) dipping cones in chocolate rather than actually filling orders. In addition, a kid who couldn't have been older than 17 was walking around with a fistful of cash I'm assuming he was supposed to bringing to the safe. Instead, he chose to talk to his friends and joke around. I don't know if I would go back here again until they hire an older, more responsible staff. That certainly doesn't take away from the high quality of their food though.

    (3)
  • Amelia V.

AMAZING ice cream. Best in Fort Collins. Enough said.

    (5)
  • Scott K.

I went to the knew one on the south end of town off of Boardwalk. They definitely made me one of the top 5 chocolate malts i've ever had, and I drink a lot of chocolage malts. I wasn't that hungry so I ordered the small. The friendly girl behind the counter screwed up and gave me a large (only charging for a small). Thank goodness though, because I could have probably eaten two of them.

Have loved walrus for over a decade. Parking can be rough but it is totally worth it. Great flavors, great variety, exceptional quality.

  • Michael O.

Grasshopper pie was awesome! Friendly service. Decent ice cream. Big space.

    (5)
  • Kathy W.

I tried the black raspberry cheesecake and it was very good. I wouldn't say they have a huge selection, though, and I was glad to see something I liked on the chalkboard specials of the day as the ones in the case didn't especially appeal to me.

    (3)
  • Jack B.

There are many reasons to go to Walrus. First of all it has been around forever. It is not a chain. As a long-time fan I was disappointed when they went to by-weight instead of by the scoop, but I am sure it makes more business sense. There are a few flavors they have every day, but the changing flavors is what is fun -- you never know what new treats will be available. I love the cinnamon chocolate or the orange chocolate they have on occasion. The also have frozen yogurt, and they deliver shakes within a 3 block area!!

    (4)
  • Karl A.

Best ice cream in the Fort Collins area. Always worthy of a stop when we pass through town.

    (4)
  • Raygina K.

The selection is always good, as is the service. Most times even the joke flavor is good! I love the dive feel of the place. I'm not a fan of the one on Boardwalk, it just doesn't feel right.

    (5)
  • frank K.

The first time i went i got the mud slide pie only to find out that It was coffee flavored ice cream which I don't like. That was my fault since I should of asked questions as the staff were very patient and accommodating. The second time I had them make me a equivalent of a dq blizzard which they don't even offer and they improvised and made it anyway. That was very good and the fact that they made it special for me goes a long way in my book.

  • Jennifer W.

We make a point to stop in Ft Collins just about every time we drive through town for Walrus Ice Cream. The flavors are always so rich and fresh. It seems like the flavors change less frequently or that they have less variety than they used to offer, but I still love this place. The fruit flavors are delicious and their chocolates are always fantastic. I really wish there were a Walrus in Denver!!!

Really, really, really, really, really gooood ice cream. Rich flavors, friendly staff. The best we have had for a long time.

  • Nancy M.

I always make a point to come here after dinner in Ft. Collins. There is always some unusual flavor although at times I wish you could always count on Pistachio being there. I usually have a cone but my mother loves the little sundaes and we always have whipped cream with a cherry. This is a nice old fashion kind of store that is not a chain. Yeah! Lots of sitting inside or out so make a trip here when you are in town. It is a block west of the main drag.

    (4)
  • Craig P.

Great ice cream. Large selection of flavors, as well as a bunch of different types of cones (waffle, sugar, cake, dipped in millk chocolate, dipped in white chocolate, etc). Had caramel sea salt... so good. Also the ice cream was soft (but not soft serve oozing out of a spigot), not rock hard like other places that scoop it out. Highly recommend .

    (4)
  • Alex B.

Great ice cream. A fun place to visit when touring Ft. Collins. The price range is not too bad, and they have all kinds of cones and ice cream flavors. Each day and week they feature different flavors, but you can always get a traditional favorite such as chocolate or a banana split. They let you sample before you try and it is very fresh compared to store bought ice cream. The artwork and atmosphere are fun and it seems kid friendly. It can also be a fun place to include for a summer date night!

  • Martha L.

I went back to Walrus the other day. The ice cream was ok, but be careful of the toppings. The pineapple looked like pineapple pulp that looks kinda unappetizing so I stayed away from that. Stupidly, I thought their raspberry would be better and it was horrible. Also in pulp form, it was unbelievably seedy and sour in addition to being somewhat fermented. It was the worst representation of raspberries I've ever consumed. I spend the next few minutes trying to scrap them out of my cup. Instead of pineapple, I picked brownie. It was edible, but tasted a bit too hard and chewy. I guess compared to the raspberries, the brownie was great. Walrus is ok...just be careful of what you order.

Make this simple. been twice GREAT each time. Plus the people are super friendly.

Very unusual combination flavors here! Great ice cream! Sometimes there is a line. Open pretty late! Open all year around.

Not only should everyone make it a point to go to Walrus when they're in Fort Collins, but people should make it a point to come to Fort Collins so they can go to Walrus. I moved to Fort Collins before I knew what ice cream was, but that never stopped my family from going there. Walrus has the best ice cream I have ever had, and it is one of those things I crave whether I'm on the other side of the country or on the other side of the world. From their spectacular selection of ice creams and cones to their quirky sense of humor, Walrus has it all. Even though they have a pine cone in their cone selection, they probably would sell it to you if you really wanted. I never realized what the big rage of putting fresh ingredients into the ice cream on demand while mixing it into the ice cream, because I grew up with that at Walrus. Although I have had about every flavor they offer (except for their not-so-appetizing jokes of flavors), I will always get their cappuccino variation. Whether it's plain cappuccino, cappuccino almond, cappuccino oreos, or other cappuccino flavors, you won't go wrong with this ice cream. If you happen to be in the area on a Sunday but you're dissuaded from going there because you have you're dog with you, think again. Sundays is doggie scoop day, where dogs eat free. Treat yourself to a delectable treat, while you're furry best friend enjoys himself too. After trying Walrus, you won't ever second-guess visiting Fort Collins. Walrus would even be the perfect reason to visit your awful Fort Collins in-laws.

    (5)
  • John B.

Walrus makes some good ice cream... and by good I mean great! They have a big variety of flavors, including the basics (chocolate, vanilla, mint), but also including flavors you don't see every day (Guiness, cinnamon, and their mystery flavors like Spicy Tuna or Smurf). Their ice cream is nice and creamy and has lots of flavor. Their sizes also tend to be on the large side, so plan on getting more than you bargained for. My standard order is to order a Saturday (just like a sunday, but more fun?) with chocolate chip ice cream and both toppings as cookie dough! If you've ever tried the cookie dough at someplace like Cold Stone, you know it's about as tasty as frozen cardboard. At Walrus, it actually tastes like real cookie dough! It's nice and soft with just a hint of salt. It might be cookie dough overload to get a double order, but once it's mixed into ice cream and buried under a bunch of whipped cream, who cares? It's one of the tastiest treats around.

  • Tina C.

Ice cream, ice cream, we all scream for ice cream from the Walrus Ice Cream Company! Yes, a trip to Fort Collins is worth a waffle cone single scoop from Walrus. I am totally boring because I love their strawberry ice cream the best but they do make other very interesting flavor combos. I don't get up to Walrus very often so I usually always just get my favorite flavor. I guess it is a good thing they aren't in Denver because if they were I would be as big as a walrus!

    (5)
  • Nick S.

Meh. Got blue moon and cotton candy. No flavor at all. I ate pink and blue ice cream, though so can't complain too much.

    (3)
  • Kristy D.

Had coupon to this location from the Valupak. They were out of everything & the girl working excuse was the girl before her didn't like her & was quitting. I have heard great raves about the one in Old Downtown so figured this would be the same. Would have rather spent my money to get ice cream & the fixings at the grocery store. Won't go back.

    (2)
  • Scott F.

This place makes some really god ice cream. My only complaint is that they are always changing the flavors they have. Always expect to order something different form the last time. If they have it, you need to get the Guiness ice cream. It is amazing.

    (5)
  • Ben M.

Best ice cream in the history of ice cream. Had the blueberry and the chocolate orange and cannot decide which was more wonderful.

    (5)
  • Jon F.

Good atmosphere, great selection of flavors, but in the end very average ice cream. Unfortunate.

  • Lily U.

I came in super excited to try this place again since I left Foco 10 years ago. I wanted a small chocolate dipped cone with sprinkles with vanilla ice cream with chocolate chips mixed in. The girl told me they can't do that in small cones cause it will fall out. I just sat there and stared at her. What will fall out? I guess the chocolate chips. But she offered to put them on top.....won't those fall out? I told her i would take my chances and she said sorry she couldn't do it. I seriously stood there confused and not sure what to do but laugh. Um ok. It ended up being 5 dollars for the bigger cone and was really not enough Ice cream for that price. Not going back.

iconic ice cream place in Old Town Fort Collins. Lots of interesting and unique flavors.

  • Elaine E.

The first time I went here I was blown away by the choices of ice cream, how amazing it tasted and how affordable it was. The second time I went I felt the service was more interested in flirting with each other than actually helping the customers. When they deigned to help us, they made me feel like I was really intruding on them. The choices weren't as good as the last time either. Plus, it just felt really dirty. I'd be willing to try it again b/c the first time was so good.

not my favorite ice cream place, but still an ICE CREAM place none the less. i've had some really good days here, and i've had some not so good. the service is up and down, and depending on the type of ice cream you get, you may or may not leave absolutely delighted. (also, today the girl helping us seemed so angry at the previous couple that i didn't even want to ask for a second flavor after i tried and eehh kind of liked the chocolate yogurt. however, chocolate yogurt it was.) on that topic, i don't really recommend their "yogurt", aka ice shavings with a little flavor. (okay, but to be fair, i ate it up anyways and it tasted chocolate-ish.) they do have walrus themed paintings all over inside, so that's cool, if it's what you're into. and really, it's ice cream. so i'm still pretty a-ok with it.

Such a neat, local place with character. I love that they have a "joke flavor" each week. They're things like "bean burrito" or "salad dressing." They're so nasty, but it's so fun to try a sample... like eating Bertie Botts' Every-Flavor Beans. I love their *REAL* ice cream flavors, and they deliver shakes within a 2 block radius!

I had the Red Velvet ice cream with rainbow sprinkles, and M had the Chocolate Reeses Pieces. (Is that how you spell Reeses Pieces? Hmm, look how lazy I am, I'm not even going to go back and check - just acknowledge it and move on. Maybe if the internet wasn't so shoddy here, I'd fact-check, but...) There was a HUGE line. Oh, and the "small" cup is more like a large. Intense. But delicious. :)

A local place in Old Town Fort Collins. Great combination and great ice cream. I live on the south east side of the Fort, although I hit Walrus whenever I am in Old TOwn.

I went here at lot in the summer of 2009. BAck then I really liked how you pay by the ounce, and that the ice cream is all natural. However, going back in 2010 I had terrible customer service experience and will no longer go there, plus the flavors are not really that exciting to me anymore. You can sign up online and get e-mail alerts about your favorite ice creams and when they are available, however I have also gone down numerous times and they do not have the flavors they claim to have.

The reviews about this place made me think it would be awesome. My husband and I were disappointed for the $6.50 we spent for two ice cream cones. It was cool how the ice cream is handmade...mine even had a couple pieces of ice in it. We both got their waffle cones and had more cone than ice cream. The ice cream was good, but not awesome. Service was ok...nothing but teenagers running the place and my husband thought it looked kind of dingy inside. Fort Collins needs a Braum's Dairy. Their ice cream is king! We probably won't go back to Walrus...$3 something a cone was a little much for our little bitty scoop of ice cream.

The ice cream is good, but I never feel comfortable in this place. One time it was filled with christians, another time I felt like the people working were more involved in their 80's day decorating than actually waiting on people. There were 4 people behind the counter, but only one taking orders. I'm always disappointed after a trip here.

If ever in the need of delicious ice cream there is no substitute for the Walrus. I love this place and only wished I either lived in Collins or the Walrus lived by me!

Delicious ice cream. I make a point to go here every time that I'm in town. Lots of fun flavors.
